Role Overview: Material Planning Supervisor
As a Material Planning Supervisor, you will play a critical role in maintaining efficient inventory levels, ensuring a smooth flow of raw materials and components from the supply chain to our manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of material requirements while optimizing stock levels to support production schedules.
This position requires a strong understanding of supply chain management, inventory control processes, and team leadership. The ideal candidate should have excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across multiple departments to ensure seamless operations.
Key Responsibilities
As a Material Planning Supervisor, your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Inventory Management:
Maintaining agreed-upon inventory levels to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
Performing regular inventory analysis to assess stock levels and make data-driven recommendations for optimizing supply chain efficiency.
Ensuring that the inventory stockroom meets all environmental and storage requirements for different materials and components.
Implementing best practices in material planning to prevent stock shortages or excess inventory.
Team Leadership & Workforce Management:
Managing the staffing, training, and development of materials management personnel.
Overseeing employee performance and ensuring a productive and motivated workforce.
Ensuring proper labor relations and compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Software & System Coordination:
Overseeing the maintenance and functionality of inventory management software.
Working closely with IT and other departments to ensure that the software is updated and fully optimized for material planning and tracking.
Implementing automation and digital tools to improve inventory visibility and operational efficiency.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Coordination:
Working closely with procurement, production, and warehouse teams to ensure the timely availability of raw materials and components.
Communicating with suppliers and vendors to address any material shortages, delivery delays, or quality issues.
Participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency and reduce costs.
Required Skills & Qualifications
To be considered for the Material Planning Supervisor role, candidates should meet the following qualifications:
Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
A Master’s degree or certification in inventory management, materials planning, or logistics will be an added advantage.
Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in material planning, inventory control, or supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Experience in supervising teams and managing inventory workflows.
Technical & Analytical Skills:
Strong knowledge of inventory management systems (ERP, SAP, or similar software).
Proficiency in data analysis and reporting using Excel, Power BI, or other analytics tools.
Ability to assess and optimize stock levels while ensuring seamless production processes.
